Abkhazia is in favor of close and allied relations with Russia, although there are no political forces in the republic that would like to join Russia, said the Secretary of the so-called Security Council of occupied Abkhazia, Sergey Shamba, while commenting the statement of the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev.

“South Ossetia has repeatedly held a referendum on joining Russia, and this is a natural way to unite the people of North and South Ossetia, and I think it is fully consistent with what Dimitry Anatolyevich said.

I hope that in due time there will be an opportunity and South Ossetia will unite with North Ossetia, as for Abkhazia, we have our own path, different, we have never applied to join Russia, and I don’t see any political forces in Abkhazia who would see such a form of relations between our countries”, - said Sergey Shamba.
