Putin was guilty in Georgia and he is guilty today in Ukraine - Nicolas Sarkozy

Guest of TF1 evening, the former President of France returned to the excitement caused by his declarations on the war in Ukraine, last week in Le Figaro Magazine, writes lefigaro.fr.

On the occasion of the release of the third volume of his memoirs, Le Temps des combats, Sarkozy, guest of TF1’s “20 heures”, returned to the controversy triggered by his declarations on the war in Ukraine.

“The question of relations between Europe and Russia is a question which dates back centuries and centuries and which will occupy many of our successors”, began by defending himself Nicolas Sarkozy. A way to recall his action, when France had the presidency of Europe, during the Georgian crisis in the summer of 2008: “I know that Vladimir Putin was guilty in Georgia and that he is guilty today in Ukraine“.

Before wondering about the future of the “disputed territories of eastern and southern Ukraine”, advocating for the latter “a way out from above” by means of “referendums strictly supervised by the international community”.
