The Prosecutor General of Georgia has met with International Special Envoy for EU Sanctions Implementation, David O’Sullivan, along with James O’Brien and Kumar Iyer, representatives from the United States and the United Kingdom on sanctions.

At the meeting, Irakli Shotadze emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration with international partners in terms of implementation of sanctions. He highlighted that fostering the implementation of international sanctions is a priority for the Prosecution Service and today’s meeting is an opportunity to collectively discuss the role and accomplishments of the Prosecution Service.

The Prosecutor General briefed the representatives of the delegation with the information of responses and efforts undertaken by the part of the Prosecution Service in case of evading sanctions.

The parties discussed the activities carried out by the Prosecution Service in addressing the risks related to potential circumvention of international sanctions. Efficient operation of the Prosecution Service in cases of evading international sanctions was underscored.

In attendance at the meeting were Pawel Herczynski, Ambassador of the EU to Georgia, Kelly C. Degnan, U.S. Ambassador to Georgia, Mark Clayton, UK Ambassador to Georgia, Bakur Abuladze, First Deputy Prosecutor General of Georgia, Natia Merebashvili, Deputy Prosecutor General of Georgia, Revaz Baghashvili, Head of the Investigation Department at the Office of the Prosecutor General of Georgia. Representatives from the EU, U.S. Embassy, U.S. Department of State, and the Prosecution Service were also present. By the end of the meeting, the parties agreed on future cooperation.
