Lithuanian President called on NATO to strengthen its eastern flank if Prigozhin is in Belarus

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda has warned that NATO will have to strengthen its eastern flank if Belarus becomes a haven for the head of the “Wagner” PMK Yevgeny Prigozhin. He said this after the meeting of the State Security Council regarding the attempt by a group of mercenaries of the “Wagner” PMC to rebel against the Russian military leadership, with reference to The Guardian.

“If Prigozhin or part of the Wagner group ends up in Belarus with unclear plans and unclear intentions, it will only mean that we need to further strengthen the security of our eastern borders. I am talking not only about Lithuania, but also about the entire Alliance. My country will allocate additional intelligence capabilities to study political and security aspects of Belarus”, - said Nauseda.

In his opinion, Russian President may face new problems for his leadership.

Previously, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Oleksiy Danilov called an attempted rebellion of the leader of the PMK “Wagner” Yevgeny Prigozhin as the first step in dismantling the regime of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
