Ministry of Internal Affairs hosted the 26th annual meeting of the Nuclear Forensics International Technical Working Group (ITWG). Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs – Aleksandre Darakhvelidze participated in the conference and delivered the opening remarks. As well as, the Co-Chairs of the Nuclear Forensics International Technical Working Group (ITWG) – Michael Curry and Maria Wallenius provided the welcoming remarks.

During the meeting, the representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs presented the capabilities and response mechanisms of MIA on Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) threats, while the representative of the State Security Service reviewed the National Strategy of CBRN threat reduction.

At the end of the conference, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Aleksandre Darakhvelidze thanked the Nuclear Forensics International Technical Working Group (ITWG) for holding the symposium in Georgia and sharing the best international experience on nuclear forensics.

Up to 80 experts and scientists from different countries took part in the symposium, which covered the issues of the further development of nuclear forensics, including modern methods and approaches to nuclear and other radioactive material research.

The symposium was held with the financial support of the US Department of Energy (DoE) and the European Commission’s Joint Research Center (JRC).
