29 families living in Varketili will receive safe and modern living spaces

29 families living in Varketili will receive safe and modern living spaces. Such a statement made today the Mayor of Tbilisi.

“A dilapidated block of flats at no. 18, Kaloubani Street in Varketili will be replaced this time as part of the dilapidated house replacement program. This is a high-category dilapidated house with around 30 families living in it. We have already taken them to the flats rented by us. The project has been agreed and all types of studies have been conducted. The building will be replaced by a modern residential building. Agreements have already been signed with the residents regarding the replacement of the three-storey building.

Replacing dilapidated houses is a painful issue, because we have many such houses. Tbilisi City Hall has for years ensured that the above-mentioned buildings are strengthened, and then we launched the program to replace dilapidated buildings, which involves the complete removal of such buildings and structures and the construction of new buildings. About 40 projects are being considered under this program.

The city has many dilapidated monuments of cultural heritage. “Tbilisi Development Fund” rehabilitates old districts in Tbilisi, but this is not sufficient. The program, which provides for the renovation of similar buildings and structures, allows businesses to rehabilitate cultural heritage monuments with their participation. To this end, we have decided to give companies that submit a concrete proposal to renovate these buildings, an opportunity to use higher construction coefficients in districts other than Old Tbilisi”, - said Kakha Kaladze.
