Ukraine announced it had regained more than 10 positions controlled by Russian forces in the northern and southern suburbs of Bakhmut.

“Russian soldiers of various units were also arrested. Anyone who knows the actual situation and is in Bakhmut understands the seriousness of what is happening. Ukrainian units had recaptured more than 10 positions controlled by the Russian army in the northern and southern suburbs of Bakhmut, fighting is still fierce. Russia is concentrating all its forces here and trying to attack, destroying everything in its way”, - Ukraine’s deputy defense minister Ganna Malyar said.

On May 12 she announced that the Ukrainian army had advanced 2 km near Bakhmut. The Ukrainian military earlier announced that it had successfully carried out counter-attacks and forced the withdrawal of Russian forces from some areas around Bakhmut.
