The Government Commission for Higher Education Reform convened under the chairmanship of Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze. Focus in the meeting was made on challenges in the system of higher education in terms of both infrastructure and teaching quality.
The Head of Government underlined the importance of the qualitative transformation of the country’s university education. In the nearest future, the commission will develop a concept to serve as the basis for a policy underpinning higher education reform. According to the Prime Minister, infrastructural issues can be resolved and the quality of teaching and research can be upgraded by 2028.
As it was noted at the commission’s meeting, importantly, all resources must be put to use as much as possible to develop a qualitatively upgraded system in four years, and to enable Georgian students to receive European-quality higher education in Georgia.
