To effectively navigate this challenging period, we must rely on mutual support rather than resorting to illegal foreign interference in our domestic political processes, undermining each other by disinformation campaigns – Makhashvili

Chairman of the EU Integration Committee, member of the Parliamentary Delegation to OSCE PA, Levan Makhashvili addressed the OSCE Committees at the joint sitting highlighting the national security of Georgia, international challenges.

"Providing the three wars that we encountered with Russia in the 1990s and 2008, as well as the occupation of two historical regions of Georgia, we have come to the realization that the only viable solution from the most acute geopolitical turbulence was to set aside our emotions and apply a pragmatic policy", - he said.

In his assessment, the most critical and pressing decisions for the past 3 years have been those pertaining to maintaining peace and the establishment of the country`s statehood. These decisions were grounded in a comprehensive and realistic evaluation of the prevailing threats.

"Despite the negative connotations associated with our actions, the "intellectual elite" have attributed various labels to us. In reality, our sole objective has been to safeguard the nation.

While the developments around the Ukraine-Russia war prove the only narrative - Georgia has made sound decisions.

The appropriate actions that Georgia and other small nations must take necessitate caution and cooperation. And to effectively navigate this challenging period, we must rely on mutual support rather than resorting to illegal foreign interference in our domestic political processes, undermining each other by disinformation campaigns", - he stated
