There are some members in the European Parliament who have a personal attitude and a personal vendetta against the Georgian people. Such a statement made today the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia.

“I think our population is used to the fact that there is a certain group in the European Parliament [EP], which we see standing by the side of criminals and holding briefings, receiving Mikheil Saakashvili in their rooms, encouraging him to sneak into Georgia. In fact, the Georgian people were sacrificed to the confrontation by exactly these European parliamentarians whom we see on TV screens. These are the parliamentarians who later found themselves in the registry of lobbyists in the US, the US lobbyists prepare the texts of the resolution for them. It can be seen directly that here we are dealing with dishonesty on the part of certain Members of the EP.

As for the resolution, it is a political statement and nothing else. We had such records before as well, regarding sanctioning, regarding the release of Saakashvili, nothing in this regard is news here. There are some members in the EP who have a personal attitude and a personal vendetta against the Georgian people and are trying to use the last few weeks they have left in the EP to attack the Georgian people. First of all, this damages the EU itself, the prestige of the EU in the eyes of the Georgian people, because when we see that the European institution attacks the Georgian people, of course, it causes negativity in our population and damages the name of the EU itself”, - said Shalva Papuashvili.
