The Tbilisi City Court found three people guilty of embezzling a significant sum of citizen’s funds after accepting all of the evidence presented by the prosecutor’s office.

The evidence presented at trial demonstrated that in 2021–2022, the dealer Z.M. and the directors M.K. and D.C. of “Cartrade” LLC stole 209,220.00 USD from seven individuals who were looking to purchase a car in the United States. Of this amount, only 145,210.62 USD were transferred for the purchase of automobiles, and 122,712.37 USD were unlawfully taken, resulting in significant harm to the victims.

Article 182 of the Georgia Criminal Code (Unlawful appropriation or embezzlement of a considerable amount of another person’s property by a group with prior agreement) carries a sentence of 7 to 11 years in jail. All three of the accused were charged under parts “a” and “b” of this article. Defendants were found guilty of all charges by the Tbilisi City Court and were given an 8 - 8-year prison sentence.
