The Ministry of Justice will provide free replacement of non-electronic (laminated) ID cards with electronic ID cards (ID cards) from March 15.

“In order to replace the non-electronic (laminated) ID card issued before July 28, 2011 with an electronic ID card (ID card) free of charge, citizens should apply to the Houses of Justice and Mobile Houses of Justice throughout the country”, - reads the statement of the State Services Development Agency.

According to the amendments to the Law of Georgia “On the Procedure for Issuing Registration, Identity (Residence) Certificates and Passports of Georgian Citizens of Georgian Citizens and Foreigners Living in Georgia”, from July 1, 2024, non-electronic (laminated) identity cards issued before July 28, 2011 will be canceled.
