Time went by and the Georgian public saw for itself that they were bitterly deceived at the time – Papuashvili on March rallies

A year has passed since the violent protest rallies that took place near the Parliament in March, writes the Chairman of the Parliament.

“In March last year, we witnessed a highly organized and coordinated disinformation assault on the Georgian public, where we were told that white was black.

Foreign actors, among others, became involved in this - while some may not have been fully convinced, they were nonetheless persuaded to some extent. Time went by and the Georgian public saw for itself that they were bitterly deceived at the time and that what really happened was that the parties and nongovernmental organizations that receive foreign funding in a non-transparent manner rebelled. It was in their interest for this to remain hidden.

One year has passed, and we have achieved greater results than what the Georgian public would have been able to attain with the help of this law. One year later, we know more about these parties and organizations as well as their funding schemes; we see the admissions of donors that parties should not receive funding – this is the result achieved by the Georgian people in their wisdom, having finally grasped the underlying issues. In fact, we have achieved greater results in one year than would have been possible had the law been adopted”, - said Shalva Papuashvili.
