Strength of the Georgian passport is increasing year by year, I call on all countries, especially our strategic partners, to introduce a visa-free regime for Georgia - Papuashvili

The fact that the People’s Republic of China has made a decision regarding visa-free travel to Georgia emphasizes their attitude towards the Georgian people and Georgia. Such a statement made today the Chairman of the Parliament.

“There are not many countries that have visa-free travel with China. The fact that China made this decision regarding Georgia emphasizes their attitude towards the Georgian people and Georgia, towards our strategic partnership, which is documentarily still young, although it has already produced many such results. First of all, this is very important for our citizens.

You know the strength of the Georgian passport is increasing year by year. Therefore, I call on all countries, especially our strategic partners, to introduce a visa-free regime for Georgia. A total of 3.5 million people live in Georgia. I don’t think there are so many of us that any country has any question marks towards us and fears that there will be an excessive migration. For cultural connections, for connections between people, visa-free travel is of special importance.

We saw what opportunities were given to our young people and citizens after the EU opened its borders to us. They can travel, study and thus become closer to the citizens of the EU member states.

When other countries take such a decision, it will further strengthen the relationship between countries and peoples. It also implies the intensity of economic relations, when travel between countries is easy. This makes contacts and connections easier, which will then grow and translate into economic relations and more investments in Georgia”, - said Shalva Papuashvili.
