Today [February 21] our country celebrates the day of the first constitution, wrote the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia on the social network.

“It was on this day in 1921 that the founding assembly of the independent Democratic Republic of Georgia adopted the country’s first constitution. We can be proud of this political document adopted a century ago, which clearly reflects the progressiveness of the Georgian ruling elite and Georgian society at that time, its Europeanness and democracy.

The current Constitution of Georgia fully shares the spirit of its predecessor, and with the 2017 amendments, it has become one of the most advanced, truly European documents of state organization and human rights protection. Such a constitution determines the necessary conditions for the development of our country, a protected and legal environment.
