Georgia has secured 26 million Euros from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for the Tbilisi Waste Processing Project.
A Loan Agreement was signed on 20th February 2024, by and between EBRD and Georgia. Lasha Kutsishvili, Minister of Finance o Georgia and Alkis Vryenios Drakinos, Regional Director of EBRD for Caucasus signed the document.
Furthermore, an agreement was reached today between Tbilisi Municipality and EBRD for project support. Kakha Kaladze, Mayor of Tbilisi and Alkis Vryenios Drakinos, Regional Director of EBRD for Caucasus signed this agreement.
The project, funded jointly by EBRD and the Green Climate Fund (GCF), aims to allocate 26 million euros for the Tbilisi waste recycling project.
These funds will be utilized to establish essential waste treatment infrastructure, including the construction of sorting and materials recovery facilities.
The implementation of the project will be overseen by Tbilisi Municipality through Tbilservice Group LLC. The project implementation agreement was signed by David Pachulia, Director of Tbilservice Group LLC and Alkis Vryenios Drakinos, Regional Director of EBRD for Caucasus.
