The Committee approved the Action Plan 2024, reflecting the lawmaking, oversight, organizational and public communication activities, respective terms and measures. The activity of the Committee aims at facilitation of public healthcare, labor, employment, protection of mothers and children, family development, support of the aged citizens, IDPs, veterans and persons with disabilities.
As the Chair, Zaza Lominadze noted, the Plan for 2024 has been developed according to a new format – it envisages the analysis of the fulfillment of the plans for 2023, the legal and strategic documents, international agreements, challenges of the sphere and the needs of the Committee.
In 2024, the Committee is focused on the realization of the healthcare strategy. The fulfillment of the Association Agreement commitments remains a key direction. Besides, the national legislation on health and social protection shall be approximated to 6 legal acts of the EU. The Plan for 2024 includes 4 strategic tasks and 41 activities: legislative activity based on the evidence in the direction of healthcare and social protection policy; effective oversight of implementation of the sector policy; effective representative activity; and the efficiency of the Committee.
According to the First Deputy Health Minister, Tamar Gabunia, the Ministry has been engaged in the development of the Plan and the document is well prepared and fully meets the healthcare strategy and the goals and plans of the Ministry; she hoped for the effective implementation thereof. The Plan is based on the Constitution of Georgia, the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament, the Articles of the Committee, the Association Agreement and other frame documents playing a principal role in the activity of the Committee.
