Georgia has one of the highest economic growths among the countries that are candidates for membership of the EU, Europe and wider region - Davitashvili

Our forecast about the rapid, stable growth and development of the Georgian economy comes true every month and is now supported by the statistical data of 2023, the candidate for the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, said in his speech at the joint session of committees in the Parliament.

“Georgia was not only able to cope with the economic challenges caused by the pandemic, but also has one of the highest economic growths among the countries that are candidates for membership of the EU, Europe and wider region.

After the double-digit economic growth recorded in 2021-2022, the dynamics of high growth continued in 2023 - last year economic growth amounted to 7%. In 2024 and the following years, the economic growth will remain at a high level and the GDP per capita will exceed GEL 23,100, USD 8,500 by 2024.

The level of inflation has remained below the target rate from April 2023. The average annual inflation of the last year was 2.5%, and for the last 8 months it has been less than 1%”, - said Levan Davitashvili.
