Georgian army is a special part of our society, it has always been an example of professionalism, reliability and strength inside and outside the country. Such a statement made today, said the Defense Minister candidate, Irakli Chikovani, in his speech at the joint session of the Parliament’s Committees on Legal Issues, Human Rights Protection and Civil Integration, Defense and Security, and Procedural Issues and Rules, where the issue of the declaration of confidence in the Government of Georgia is discussed.

“First of all, I would like to express my utmost respect to our professional and heroic military who protect the freedom and independence of our country. The Georgian army is a special part of our society, it has always been an example of professionalism, reliability and strength inside and outside the country.

After the restoration of independence, the Defense Forces of Georgia went through the most difficult path, battles for territorial integrity, Russia-Georgia war, international missions. Every time, our soldiers defended the interests of our state with dignity and courage. I bow to the memory of our fallen soldiers. Glory to them!”, - said Irakli Chikovani.

He once again confirmed his respect to each representative of the Defense Forces and noted that he is proud to work with them for the further development of the Defense Forces.

“I am proud and confident that I will work with highly experienced, honorable and patriotic people for the development of the Defense Forces. I would like to express my great respect to the Commander of the Defense Forces, General Giorgi Matiashvili, his deputies, members of the General Staff, heads of commands, officers, sergeants, corporals and every private”.
