The congress of the Georgian Dream elected Irakli Garibashvili as the Chairman of the party.

The members of Georgian Dream unanimously approved his candidacy.

“The candidacy of Irakli Garibashvili for the post of Chairperson has been unanimously approved. I congratulate Mr. Irakli and thank him for his 3-year tenure as the Prime Minister, which brought great success to our country”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze, former Chairman of the party, at the congress.

“I would like to remind the public of the situation that met Mr. Bidzina Ivanishvili and Georgian Dream in 2012 in the country. These are trampled human rights, business rackets, torture of prisoners, high levels of unemployment, social misery, occupied territories, complete disorder and chaos.

In 2012, the gross domestic product of our country was about 27 billion GEL. This year the gross domestic product will be 86 billion GEL. This means that during the rule of Georgian Dream the national economy grew 3 times. Unemployment and poverty levels are at historic minimum. In fact, poverty was halved.

Today, Georgia still faces great challenges, there is still a difficult geopolitical situation in the world. Unfortunately, one of the main threats is still the evil force, the United National Movement, which we all defeated together in 2012. As long as this criminal organization remains in politics, the threat has not gone anywhere”, - said Irakli Garibashvili.
