The 13th Meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation between Georgia and the Republic of Armenia

The 13th Meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation between Georgia and the Republic of Armenia was convened today at the Administration of the Government under the chairmanship of Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan.

At the meeting, matters pertaining to the economic cooperation between Georgia and Armenia were discussed, and the potential of cooperation between the countries in the directions of economic relations and trade, also transport, energy, tourism, culture, and education was reviewed.

As the Head of Georgian Government pointed out, Armenia is one of the key trade partners of Georgia, maintaining a spot among the top 10 trade partners of Georgia over the recent years. According to 2023 statistics, Armenia, similar to the year before, ranks 6th among Georgia"s main trade partner countries in terms of trade turnover.

According to Irakli Garibashvili, the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation is an important platform for strengthening the economic, trade, transport, and cultural ties between Georgia and Armenia.

The conversation at the meeting touched on the importance of peace and stability in the region. The Head of Government emphasized that Georgia will continue its efforts toward promoting the peace process, and that the country is ready to maintain engagement in this direction in the future.

After the meeting"s conclusion, the parties signed the Joint Declaration on the Establishment of Strategic Partnership between Georgia and the Republic of Armenia. The document was signed on Georgia"s behalf by Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili and on behalf of the Republic of Armenia by Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia.

Also, the Prime Ministers of the two countries signed the Minutes of the 13th Meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation between Georgia and the Republic of Armenia.

The Memorandum of Understanding on Agricultural Cooperation was also executed. The parties signed the Memorandum of Understanding for the Field of Healthcare, also an agreement on improving the working conditions of the diplomatic missions and consular institutions of the two countries. The documents were signed by the Members of the Cabinets of Ministers of Armenia and Georgia.
