We ended the war in 2008 and Russia continues to occupy our lands - Garibashvili

Georgian Prime Minister said the Georgian Dream had achieved an “unprecedented and uninterrupted” decade of “peace and stability” that had brought “prosperity and economic growth” to the country, in remarks at a panel discussion on the sidelines of the ongoing World Economic Forum in Davos.

“As for the security of the South Caucasus, first of all, I should mention what you probably remember - the occupation of our sovereign territories. Russia still occupies 20% of our lands.

We had a conversation about this issue yesterday. We ended the war in 2008, and since then, Russia has built military bases on our territory and continues to occupy our lands.

However, despite this security challenge, we have been able to ensure an unprecedented and uninterrupted decade of peace and stability, which has brought prosperity and economic growth to Georgia.

After the restoration of independence, we have not had such a peaceful and stable situation in the country”, - said Irakli Garibashvili at the panel discussion “A new dawn of Eurasia?”
