National Library has nothing to do with politics, this is a personnel decision and I am not going to make additional comments and explanations - Papuashvili

I am grateful to Giorgi Kekelidze for all the good work he did with his team - this is a personnel decision that is important for the further development of the National Library [NL]. Such a statement made today the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia.

“I had a meeting with Giorgi Kekelidze yesterday. First of all, I would like to point out that the NL is bigger, more than each of us, with almost 200 years of history. Therefore, the work that has been done in the NL for years is an important work. Behind this is the great team of the NL, which has brought us the NL as it is and also with the vision of the future that it has. Of course, I am grateful to Giorgi Kekelidze for all the good things he did with his team. As for the decision, it is a personnel decision that is important for the further development of the NL. I am not going to make additional comments and clarifications regarding this matter, since it concerns a personnel decision that is acceptable to the Speaker of the Parliament.

Konstantine Gamsakhurdia will be the new head. I would like to wish him success, he will be officially approved in the coming days. I think that Konstantine Gamsakhurdia will play an important role in the further development of the NL, every organization needs new energy and it is with this new energy that the NL will continue to work. I think there is no need to explain how much Konstantine Gamsakhurdia is suitable for the position of the director of the NL of the Parliament of Georgia, I think there are no questions in this regard in the society.

The NL has nothing to do with politics at all, nor should it have anything to do with politics, so these attempts to somehow connect the NL with politics in itself show the dishonesty of those who try to make such a connection. The NL is the heritage and future of our common Georgian people in one organization and one building”, - said Shalva Papuashvili.
