Trial of the man accused of murdering his wife will be held in the clinic. The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia charged one person with the intentional murder of his wife under aggravating circumstances that happened in Tbilisi.
The investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs established that on January 9, in the settlement of Varketili in Tbilisi, the accused inflicted multiple wounds on his wife with a knife in different parts of her body. As a result of the injuries sustained, the victim died in hospital.
After this, the accused self-inflicted wounds in the chest area with a knife. He is currently placed in the hospital and undergoing appropriate treatment.
Law enforcement officers arrested the accused on the same day. He was charged under Article 11 Prima 109, Sub-paragraph “j” of the Criminal Code of Georgia (intentional murder committed against a family member), which provides for 16 to 20 years or life imprisonment as a form and measure of the sentence.
The Prosecutor’s Office will apply to the court with a motion to use imprisonment as a preventive measure against the accused within the time limit established by the law.
