A fugitive wanted under INTERPOL Red Notice for particularly serious crimes extradited from Georgia to the US

On the basis of an individual extradition agreement signed between the Office of the General Prosecutor of Georgia and the United States Department of State, a fugitive wanted under INTERPOL Red Notice for particularly serious crimes has been extradited from Georgia to the United States of America.

The extradited person was sought by the competent authorities of the United States of America for sexual abuse of minors and assault on a family member committed in the State of Texas from 2017 to 2021, as well as for being a member of an organized criminal group and other offenses committed in the State of Louisiana from 2020 to 2021.

Based on the motion filed by the Office of the Prosecutor General of Georgia, the Tbilisi City Court approved the extradition of the aforementioned person to the United States of America.

On December 26, 2023, the Minister of Justice of Georgia made a final decision on extradition. Subsequently, officers of the Special Penitentiary Service turned the wanted fugitive over to representatives of the competent authorities of the United States of America.

The Prosecution Service of Georgia expresses its readiness to successfully cooperate with competent authorities of partner countries in the future in order to bring wanted persons to justice.
