The employees of the Central Criminal Police Department, Tbilisi, Adjara, Shida Kartli, Kakheti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti, Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, Imereti and patrol police department employees, as a result of recently conducted intensive operational measures and investigative actions, detained 112 people for drug-related crimes, including 66 drug dealers.
Among detainees, there are citizens of Georgia, as well as the United States of America, Turkey, Ukraine, India, Iran, Russia, Jordan, Egypt and Eritrea.
The following persons are arrested on charges of illegal selling and the attempting selling of drugs in large and especially large quantities, as well as for preparation of such crime. Foreign citizens were also detained, in particular: M.S. (DoB 1999), N.P. (DoB 1998), S.P. (DoB 1995), V.N. (DoB 1992), R.V. (DoB 1981), T.G. (DoB 1986), Sh.D. (DoB 1986), A. M. (DoB 1998), V.M. (DoB 2002), J.N. (DoB 1998), V.V. (DoB 2003) and M.A. (DoB 1996), M.G. (DoB 1970).
The following persons are arrested for illegal purchase and storage of a large and especially large amount of narcotic drugs, as well as illegal possession of psychotropic substances, illegal purchase and storage of marijuana, as well as illegal sowing-growing-cultivation of a plant containing a particularly large amount of narcotic drugs and illegal importation of narcotic drugs into Georgia: L.A. (DoB 1994), M.M. (DoB 1999), L.M. (DoB 1976), M.O. (DoB 1996), K.Kh. (DoB 1999), I.P. (DoB 1999), O. M. (DoB 2001), R.M. (SoB 1980), M.K. (DoB 1970), M.K. (DoB 2004), T.K. (DoB 1990), Z.C. (DoB 1975), I.U. (DoB 1978), N.F. (DoB 1992), R.B. (DoB 1978), N.M., (DoB 1960), L.A., (DoB 1980) and S.G. (DoB 1965).
The following persons convicted in the past were also detained: A.N. (DoB 1993) and I.E.(DoB 1982), citizens of foreign countries - M.O. (DoB 1986), A.K. (DoB 2006), M.G. (DoB 1995), A.A. (DoB 1997), M.A. (DoB 1984), A.A. (DoB 1996), A.L. (DoB 1997), A.M. (DoB1998), A.B. (DoB 1985), A.S. (DoB 1997), F.M. (DoB 1994), M.Sh. (DoB 1999), I.L. (DoB 1989), A.M. (DoB 1988), A.F. (DoB 1988), T.A. (DoB 1994), A.P. (DoB 1983), J. M. (DoB 1979), A.N. (DoB 1998), S.K. (DoB 1989), S.H. (DoB 1989), U.H. (DoB 1998), O.K. (DoB 1978), R.D. (DoB 1998), M.K. (DoB 1980) and F.M., (DoB 1998).
The committed crimes envision up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
On the basis of the judge"s ruling, the police made control purchases of drugs from persons arrested on charges of illegal possession of drugs several times and secretly audio-video recorded the process.
As a result of operational measures and investigative activities conducted across the country, large and especially large amounts of narcotic and psychotropic drugs were seized as evidence from the locations specified by the accused persons, as well as during the personal search and search activities held in their vehicles and residential houses. The following drugs were seized by police: “Heroin”, “Cocaine”, “Alpha PVP”, “Subotex”, “Suboxin”, “Methadone”, “MDMA”, “Ketamine”, “Lysergide” (LSD), “Methamphetamine”, “Buprenorphine”, “Mephedrone”, “Amphetamine”, “Dimethyltryptamine”, “Pregabalin substances containing “tramadol”, “tetrahydrocannabinol” and “psilocin”, as well as “marijuana” and the narcotic plant “cannabis”.
The police also seized firearms, three pistols, two hunting rifles, cartridges, computer equipment, mobile phones, electric scales and cash, supposedly obtained from the sale of drugs.
The investigation is being conducted under articles 260, 18-260, 19-260, 261, 262, 263, 265, 273(1) 18-273(1), 19-273(1) and 236 envisioned by the Criminal Code of Georgia.
One of the main priorities for the Ministry of Internal Affairs is the effective fight against drug crime and the implementation of legal measures against drug dealers. From January 1 of the current up to date, 281 drug dealers have been arrested throughout the country.
In total, throughout the year, the police seized 84 kilograms of “heroin”, 20 kilograms of “Alpha PVP”, 9,500 pills of “Subotex” and “Suboxin”, 2.5 kilograms of “cocaine”, 4 kilograms of “Mephedrone”, 2.5 kilograms of “Mdma” from illegal circulation”, as well as 304 kilograms of marijuana, up to 4 tons of “cannabis”, 13 kilograms of various psychotropic drugs and 3 kilograms of new psychoactive substances.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs continues to fight against the illegal circulation of narcotics throughout the country. Herewith, the Agency actively continues to implement complex operational investigative measures provided by the law in order to identify and arrest drug dealers.
