The list of drugs subject to the reference price has been extended, with the price ceiling now set for over 5,000 medicines

The list of drugs subject to the reference price has been extended, with the price ceiling now set for over 5,000 medicines. The relevant information was released by the Ministry of Health.

In order to combat excessive pricing practices, the reference pricing mechanism is employed within pharmaceutical chains, aiming to address the issue of certain drugs being sold at prices that were 1,000%, 2,000%, and 3,000% higher than the import price.

The reference pricing mechanism now covers various categories of drugs.

The agency plans to gradually expand the list to encompass all actively circulating medicines in the pharmaceutical market.

This reform aims to enhance citizens’ access to medicines and reduce pharmaceutical product prices by an average of 40%.
