Shalva Papuashvili meets Javier Colomina, NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia

The Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia met with the Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy and NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia.

During the meeting, Shalva Papuashvili expressed gratitude to Javier Colomina for his support of Georgia’s NATO integration process. Both parties positively assessed the recent NATO-Georgia Commission session, in which Georgia was represented under the leadership of the Speaker. They also emphasized the significance of continued high-level exchanges and visits.

Javier Colomina extended congratulations to Georgia on obtaining EU membership candidate status, highlighting the interconnectedness of NATO and EU in the context of Euro-Atlantic integration. He stressed the importance of successfully implementing the 9 priorities of the European Union and noted that bilateral relations between NATO and Georgia are currently at a high point, presenting a unique opportunity for further development.

During the meeting, the discussion also touched on Georgia"s plans for implementing the 9 EU priorities and the upcoming 2024 elections in Georgia. The Ambassador of Georgia to NATO, H.E. Victor Dolidze, and the Chairman of the Defense and Security Committee, Irakli Beraia, were also present at the meeting.
