Prime Minister meets Federal Minister of the Interior of Germany

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili met with Nancy Faeser, Federal Minister of the Interior and Community of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The conversation at the meeting focused on the current relations and prospects of cooperation between Georgia and Germany.

The Prime Minister underlined Germany’s important role in the process of granting the candidate status to Georgia. The Head of Government expressed special gratitude to Olaf Scholz, Federal Chancellor of Germany, for his support.

The conversation at the meeting touched on the importance of the Agreement on Migration and Mobility between the Government of Georgia and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany. It was noted that this agreement seeks to strengthen the cooperation between Georgia and the Federal Republic of Germany in the directions of labor migration and education.

Matters pertaining to the cooperation between the Interior Ministry of Georgia and Germany’s law enforcement agencies were also discussed. It was emphasized that this cooperation builds on international agreements and the principles of partnership and mutual trust.

The meeting at the Government Administration was attended by Chargé d’affaires of the Federal Republic of Germany to Georgia Tanja Hut, Special Representative of the Federal Government for Migration Agreements Joachim Stamp, also Head of the Planning and Communication Directorate-General Bastian Fleig.

The Georgian side at the meeting was represented by Georgia"s Interior Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri and Georgia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Federal Republic of Germany Levan Izoria.
