Bulgarian Ambassador to Georgia, Vesselin Valkanov, vowed his governments’ support for granting the European Union membership candidate status to Georgia.

In his remarks over the matter, Valkanov said that Bulgaria had “always supported” Georgia, and further pointed out “we want our friend Georgia to be by our side”.

The Ambassador underlined the role of merit on the European integration path as being “important”, and noted the Georgian Government had “immediately” drawn up an action plan for the implementation of the 9 steps set out by the European Commission for the status.
