Speaker of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, and MPs paid tribute to individuals who had been missing since the 1990s war in Abkhazia and whose remains were transferred to Tbilisi.
The MPs joined a public funeral service in the Holy Trinity Cathedral for the 20 individuals whose remains were transferred in the latest stage of the ongoing process of searching for persons missing following the 1992-1993 conflict.
This time remains of 6 civilians and 14 combatants were transferred. 5 of the combatants will be buried with military honours, while the remains of the other individuals will be laid to rest at family cemeteries by the decision of their relatives.
