Georgian Finance Minister presented today an updated draft state budget for 2024 at the 2nd hearing of the Parliament, calling the document a budget aimed for ensuring “bright, progressive, inclusive and advancing future of Georgia”.
According to Lasha Khutsishvili, the budget would amount GEL 28.5 billion.
“The finances are going to be allocated to the sectors in the following amounts: Social programmes – GEL 6.460 billion. Infrastructural projects - GEL 6.9 billion. Educational and science programmes - GEL 3.6 billion. Preschool and general education - GEL 2.70 billion. Educational infrastructure - 790 million. Defence and security - GEL 2.9 billion. Servicing and repayment of state debts - GEL 2.9 billion. Environmental protection - GEL 650 million. Agriculture - GEL 579 million. Culture and sport - GEL 950 million. Healthcare programmes - GEL 1.802 billion. Social assistance of target groups - GEL 1.519 billion. Tourism – GEL 236 million. Project for building a deep sea port in the Black Sea town of Anaklia - GEL 50 million. Road infrastructure - GEL 1.9 billion. Construction and renovation of municipal infrastructure - GEL 1.7 billion”, - explained the Minister.
As he added, next year’s budget included an increased amount of pensions and state compensations, adding most of the beneficiaries of state compensations were former police officers, servicemembers and representatives of special services.
