Almost 800 years have passed since the day when 100 000 Georgians gave their lives to protect their faith - Garibashvili

Georgian Prime Minister commended the “unity, faith and dedication to the motherland” of the 100,000 Martyrs of Tbilisi who were killed in 1226 for having refused to renounce Christianity during an invasion of Khwarazmian Empire forces.

“November 13 is a day of faith, unity and dedication to the motherland for every Georgian. Almost 800 years have passed since the day when 100 000 Georgians gave their lives to protect their faith.

It is hard to find in history such an amazing occurrence of inner strength and unity in faith. Such examples of our great history form the identity of Georgians, spiritual values, strengthen our faith and love for our homeland.

I congratulate you on this great day of 100 000 Georgian martyrs.

Eternal glory to our heroes!”, - writes Irakli Garibashvili.
