Georgia has a worthy place in Europe and deserves the status of a candidate for EU membership. Such a statement the Prime Minister of Georgia made at the opening ceremony of the Tbilisi Silk Road Forum.

“Joining the European family of nations has always been important for Georgia, and the achievements of the Government, such as the Association Agreement with the European Union, the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement, the visa-free regime with the EU, and, of course, all of this confirm the geopolitical priority, including the European perspective, which was confirmed in 2022.

We can truly say that we expect a far-sighted and fair decision from Europe, so that the status of a candidate is truly deserved. It will truly be a joint effort of our people and the Government.

I would like to emphasize that Georgia really has a worthy place in Europe and Georgia deserves the status of a candidate for the European Union. We are optimistic that the progress of Georgia will be positively evaluated by the European Commission, which will pave the way for us to become a candidate”, - said Irakli Garibashvili.
