Special Investigation Service removed over 300 personal life files Aad exposed 14 individuals to crime

In the period from August to October 2023, the Special Investigation Service [SIS] exposed 14 individuals for the disclosure of secrets of personal life and arrested 7 of them.

The conducted investigation established that G.M., born in 1981 and residing in Tbilisi, committed a crime in March 2023. Specifically, during a video call with a woman he knew, he asked her to show her naked body and secretly recorded audio/video material of intimate content without her permission. Later, G.M. publicly shared this intimate material on the social network TIK TOK with the intent to harm and humiliate the woman’s reputation.

Upon the request of the victim, the SIS, ensuring the victim’s confidentiality, conducted urgent investigative actions and arrested G.M., charging him with the disclosure of secrets of personal life. The crime is punishable by imprisonment for a term of up to eight years.

Additionally, the SIS arrested another person, G.T., born in 1992 and residing in Rustavi, for the disclosure of secrets of personal life. The conducted investigation established that G.T. unlawfully accessed the FACEBOOK page of a woman born in 2000 and obtained photos and voice messages of her naked body sent by the victim to another person. On May 26, 2022, and July 15, 2022, G.T. shared this personal material with the victim"s friends and relatives and publicly posted it on the FACEBOOK page.

As a result of investigative actions, the SIS arrested the accused, G.T., charging him with the disclosure of personal life secrets. The crime is punishable by imprisonment for a term of up to eight years.

As for the remaining 12 individuals exposed to crime, the conducted investigation established that the defendants, both with acquaintances and with victims introduced through social networks, had relations at different times. These individuals obtained intimate photos and videos of personal lives of the victims through mobile phones and social media and subsequently shared this material with the victims" relatives and other individuals through various social networks, thus disclosing secrets of personal life.

The SIS, upon receiving complaints from the victims, promptly provided investigative and operational measures while fully protecting their confidentiality.

Throughout Georgia, the SIS conducted searches of the accused"s personal and residential properties, collected evidence from mobile and computer devices, and retrieved more than 300 photos, videos, and audio files as evidence. This material will be destroyed after the court provides the judgment.

The SIS remains committed to actively preventing the disclosure of secrets of personal life and identifying individuals involved in such crimes.
