Prime Minister of Georgia meets European Commission President

Georgian Prime Minister met with the President of the European Commission, as part of his visit to the Kingdom of Spain.

During his conversation with Ursula von der Leyen, Irakli Garibashvili underlined the importance of Georgia’s success on the path to European integration and of granting the status to the country at the end of this year in both regional and global contexts.

The Prime Minister briefed the President of the European Commission in detail about the progress achieved in the implementation of the 12 recommendations. According to him, the Government of Georgia has done the maximum to implement the recommendations and the process continues.

As the Prime Minister noted, in the process of implementing the recommendations Georgia has been closely cooperating with the EU and the Venice Commission, and this cooperation continues.

Irakli Garibashvili expressed the hope that Georgia’s progress and efforts toward implementing the 12 priorities will be deservedly recognized. Accordingly, Georgia is anticipating the right political decision from the commission at the end of this year.

The Prime Minister also emphasized Georgia’s important role in the process of ensuring regional security and pointed out that Georgia is always ready to contribute to ensuring peace and stability in the region.
