We firmly protect our country’s national interests, we support Ukraine and the Ukrainian people, the main thing we should care now is taking the next step and granting Georgia candidate status - Garibashvili

We firmly protect our country’s national interests, we support Ukraine and the Ukrainian people, the main thing we should care now is taking the next step and granting Georgia candidate status. Such a statement made today the Prime Minister of Georgia, while talking to journalists in Spain, where the head of the government is participating in the third summit of the European Political Community.

“We are in a really special situation. Our colleagues know this very well, 20% of our country is occupied, in this respect we differ from the situation of other countries.

We don’t even have the NATO umbrella, so to speak, the country does not have any security guarantees. We are not even a member of the European Union, so our country has to maneuver quite wisely in this most difficult geopolitical situation, which is full of turbulence, but I think we have managed, since this conflict started in Ukraine, to maneuver quite wisely, I would say so.

Most importantly, on the one hand, we firmly protect our country’s national interests, security, and on the other hand, we are in coordination with our international community, we support Ukraine and the Ukrainian people, and I think that the main thing we should care now is taking the next step and granting Georgia candidate status”, - said Irakli Garibashvili.
