We express concern regarding the statements of the Russian occupation regime in Sokhumi - MFA

We call on the Russian Federation to respect its international obligations, to fulfill the cease-fire agreement concluded on August 12, 2008, reads the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“We express concern regarding the statements of the Russian occupation regime in Sokhumi about the placement of an additional Russian military base on the occupied territories of Georgia and the inclusion of the indivisible Abkhazian region of Georgia in the integration processes initiated by Russia.

Similar actions represent a gross violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia and another provocative attempt to legitimize the illegal occupation of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions.

The international community firmly supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia.

We call on the Russian Federation to respect its international obligations, to fulfill the ceasefire agreement concluded on August 12, 2008, mediated by the European Union, and to stop the illegal occupation of the indivisible regions of Georgia”, - reads the statement of the agency.
