We are dealing with a simple case, but in many cases, discussions are held on absurd topics… Hope, today’s discussion will be within the legal framework as much as possible - Kobakhidze

The impeachment process ongoing in the Constitutional Court is quite interesting, said today the Che chairman of Georgian Dream, one of the authors of the presidential impeachment submission.

“In general, it is an interesting process, although in many cases, discussions are held on absurd topics. Hopefully, as many people as possible will follow the process that will take place in the Constitutional Court today.

Overall, you can see that we"ve presented specific very simple arguments but we could not hear answers to them. Instead, there is a discussion about issues that are completely unrelated to the subject of this dispute, for example, when the President meets the ambassadors inside the country, whether it is the same or not ... this is not relevant to this case at all.

That is, they shift the focus to issues that are not at all related to the subject of the impeachment dispute. This is the simplest case, the President needed approval, she knew all this, she confirmed that she needed approval, she applied, she could not get it, she went anyway, the Constitution was violated.

We hope that today’s discussion will be within the legal framework as much as possible. Yesterday I started asking questions, this is the next part of the procedure, and I asked 2 simple questions: “Was this visit, from their point of view, a business visit or a private visit?” It took them 10 minutes to answer this. Then I asked for confirmation of a specific quote of the President, which was made in English by her. We brought a Georgian translation of it, we can bring English as well, it is taken from the website of the Lithuanian Public Broadcaster, we asked for a simple confirmation of this, and they reacted to it with noise and commotion, they tried to take it out of the legal framework. I hope that the process will be within the legal framework as much as possible today”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
