Minister of Foreign Affairs continues meetings within the framework of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly

Ilia Darchiashvili met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus, Constantinos Kombos within the framework of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly. The sides welcomed the close friendly relations between the countries.

Cyprus’ support for Georgia’s European integration agenda was especially emphasized, and in this regard, the close cooperation between the foreign ministries of the two countries was positively assessed. The minister informed his colleague about the process of Georgia’s implementation of the recommendations of the European Commission and the progress achieved by the country in implementing legislative and institutional reforms after gaining the European perspective.

The ministers positively assessed Georgia-Cyprus cooperation within the framework of international organizations, including Cyprus’ support for Georgia"s sovereignty and territorial integrity in various formats. The sides also reviewed the prospects of strengthening bilateral relations in various fields and expressed their readiness to actively cooperate in this direction.

Ilia Darchiashvili also held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of Ghana, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey. The parties reviewed the existing cooperation in international formats and noted the great potential of cooperation in bilateral relations. After the meeting, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and Ghana. According to the ministers, the signing of the memorandum is an important step in the relations between the two countries, which will bring the two countries closer to each other.

Besides, the Foreign Minister met with his Seychellois counterpart, Sylvestre Radegonde. The sides reviewed the agenda of cooperation between the two countries in bilateral and multilateral formats and expressed the readiness to further deepen relations.

With the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Palau, Gustav N. Aitaro, discussions focused on the current issues of bilateral relations. The sides expressed their desire to further deepen the cooperation. The importance of exchanging high-level visits was emphasized. Ilia Darchiashvili thanked his colleague for his firm support of Georgia"s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
