New academic year starts in public schools

The new school year has commenced in public schools across Georgia. A total of 2,085 public schools have opened their doors to students throughout the country.

According to the Ministry of Education, over 55 000 first-graders enrolled in the schools this year [approximately 48 000 first-graders enrolled in public schools, while around 7 000 – private].

Minister of Education Giorgi Amilakhvari congratulated students as they embarked on the new academic year.

“We are starting today a new academic year in schools across the country. I want to especially congratulate our 1st graders, who enter the school for the first time this year. I congratulate the students, parents, and teachers and wish them a successful school year. I wish all first graders an interesting, unforgettable and adventure-filled school year.

As the Minister of Education and Science, I am fully aware of my responsibility and will do my best to ensure a healthy educational environment in schools and that every student, along with knowledge, gets valuable life experience”, - said Giorgi Amilakhvari.
