68th meeting of Georgia’s EU Integration Commission chaired by Irakli Garibashvili

The 68th meeting of Georgia’s EU Integration Commission was held today under the chairmanship of Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.

In the meeting at the Government Administration, the commission’s members adopted the so-called deoligarchization action plan for eliminating excessive influence on the political, economic, and social life of Georgia, which was developed based on the recommendations of the Venice Commission and the EU.

The document includes a package of amendment to be made to Georgia’s legislation via the so-called systemic approach, in which concrete timeframes are given for the adoption of the relevant legislative amendments.

The document encompasses seven different directions, including anticorruption and antimonopoly directions, matters pertaining to money laundering and media pluralism, also measures to be carried out in the judiciary. After the adoption of the document, the Foreign Ministry of Georgia received a recommendation to continue additional consultations with European partners.

After the adoption of the document by the Government of Georgia, the working process will carry on in the Parliament of Georgia.
