Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili met with a UK parliamentary delegation led by Jonathan Djanogly, Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Georgia in the House of Commons.

In the meeting at the Government Administration, the key directions of the strategic partnership between Georgia and the United Kingdom, and prospects of future cooperation, were discussed.

As the Prime Minister underlined, Georgia and the UK enjoy productive cooperation in both bilateral and multilateral formats, and the recent high-level visits illustrate the high level of the political dialogue between the countries.

According to the Head of Government, the parliamentary delegation’s visit is yet another clear demonstration of the strategic partnership between Georgia and the UK.

The topics discussed included Georgia’s economic situation. The Head of Government briefed Jonathan Djanogly on the positive trends of economic growth. At the meeting, the parties discussed the need to further cement and strengthen the trade and economic cooperation between Georgia and the UK.

The conversation touched on the regional and global security environment and challenges. As the Prime Minister emphasized, given the existing challenges, the close security cooperation between the UK and Georgia is of vital importance.

Irakli Garibashvili thanked Jonathan Djanogly for strongly, firmly supporting Georgia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and non-recognition policy.

The meeting was attended by Conservative Party Members of the UK House of Commons Geoffrey Clifton-Brown, Shailesh Vara, Heather Wheeler, and Harriet Baldwin, also Members of the House of Lords Godfrey Cromwell and Peta Buscombe, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom to Georgia Mark Clayton, Head of the Government Administration Revaz Javelidze, and Georgia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United Kingdom Sophie Katsarava.
