The Chairman of the Georgian Dream has announced the candidates for the upcoming mid-term elections [October 1]. These elections will cover the majoritarian MP position in the Gori/Kaspi constituency and the mayoral position in the Gurjaani constituency.

“We nominate Giorgi Sosiashvili as the candidate for the majoritarian electoral district of Gori and Kaspi and Giorgi Machavariani’s candidacy for the Gurjaani mayor position”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.

As he added, “if the opposition parties refuse to participate in the mid-term elections, they will once again acknowledge their own weakness”.

“Non-participation in any election means recognition of weakness. It was the same in previous cases as well. Actually, the opposition is in a very difficult position. You see what the situation is. They have very weakened positions and reduced ratings, which is natural.

When the chairman of the main opposition party is [Levan] Khabeishvili, there is no even need to talk about any strength of the party. Also, when their informal ruler is [David] Kezerashvili, [Vano] Merabishvili, etc., the opposition cannot be strong. The same applies to other opposition parties.

Therefore, non-participation in any election is a recognition of one’s own weakness. If in this case they refuse to participate in the elections, they will once again admit their own weakness, about which the society is already informed”, - said the Chairman of the ruling party.
