Significant changes have been introduced in State Universal Healthcare Program to increase access to full-fledged treatment for oncology patients.
By the Decision of the Ministry of Health, hormone therapy, chemotherapy, radiation therapy and medicines for all oncology patients will be fully funded within State Universal Healthcare Program nationwide. Among them are those patients whose annual income exceeds 40, 000 GEL. Before introduction of the changes, these services were not funded for them. The novelty will affect insured veterans as well.
According to this decision, cancer treatment within State Universal Healthcare Program will be equally accessible for each beneficiary regardless of their income. The change has been already endorsed by the Government of Georgia.
