Members of the Tbilisi government honored the memory of those who died as a result of the natural disaster in Racha with a minute of silence.
“Today is a day of mourning, and indeed, I don’t think there is a person in Georgia who hasn’t taken this large-scale natural disaster that took lives to his heart and as a personal tragedy.
In times like this, we all need to show solidarity and support each other. I do not know what words of consolation to use at such times, but even in the most desperate situation, stories like the one about the deceased Giorgi Goginashvili, who after having escaped the natural disaster returned to help and save others and give us hope. I express my gratitude to the rescuers, every employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, our soldiers, volunteers, Red Cross representatives, medical teams, and every employee of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure for their unprecedented efforts in the disaster zone.
I would like to once again express my readiness and the readiness of the Tbilisi City Hall to help with respective services, whether by employing technique or engaging people. We are ready to support the central government when necessary”, - said Kakha Kaladze, the Mayor of Tbilisi.
