As a result of the ongoing rescue operation in Oni municipality, the bodies of 2 people were found by the employees of the Emergency Situations Management Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
At the moment, the bodies are being removed from the disaster zone.
Approximately 400 firefighters and rescuers and representatives of relevant units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are involved in the rescue operation.
The Deputy Ministers of Internal Affairs, Ioseb Chelidze, Giorgi Butkhuzi and the Head of the Emergency Situations Management Service, Teimuraz Mgebrishvili, are at the scene of the disaster.
At this stage, up to 70 citizens in the disaster area have been airlifted to a safe area. The rescue operation will continue rescue activities throughout the night.
