The U.S. Embassy in Tbilisi has never engaged in lobbying on behalf of former Georgian President Saakashvili. Such a statement made the US Department of State’s Principal Deputy Spokesperson.

“So to be – and I want to be incredibly clear about this: The U.S. Embassy in Tbilisi has never engaged in lobbying on behalf of former Georgian President Saakashvili. The embassy meets with a wide variety of people and organizations, as do our embassies and consulates across the world.

While I certainly would not get into the specifics of private diplomatic meetings, we can confirm again that the embassy has never engaged in lobbying on behalf of the former Georgian president”, - said Vedant Patel.
