The Counterterrorism Center of the State Security Service of Georgia, as a result of operative and investigative activities detained two citizens of Georgia within the framework of terrorism investigation.

The State Security Service conducted simultaneous special operations in two regions of Georgia on four locations. As a result of investigative activities, flags with the symbolics of the terrorist organization “Islamic State” and various electronic data devices have been seized. Furthermore, ammunition, explosive device and materials have been seized from the detainees’ houses.

The Counterterrorism Center of the State Security Service of Georgia carries out the investigation on the basis of articles 327 and 236 of the Criminal Code of Georgia. Active operative-investigation activities are ongoing both in order to establish the character of the detainees’ participation within the terrorist organization “Islamic State”, as well as to identify other individuals related to the crime.
