According to statistics, the main cause of forest fires is human carelessness, which can lead to disastrous consequences.
It is allowed to light a bonfire in the territory of the state forest in cases of preliminary arrangement of the place for lighting the fire. The preliminary arrangement of the fire pit involves cleaning from easily flammable materials (hay, dry grass, leaves, wood) within a radius of 1.5 m from the heart of the fire.
In the state forest territory, it is forbidden to light a fire under the trunk of trees, in burning young forest, in old fires, in damaged areas of the forest (in areas of a forest fire or in broken areas), in forest areas that have not been cleaned from the waste of production, in areas of manufactured wood left unexcavated, in areas with peat and dry grass.
According to the Code of Administrative Offenses of Georgia, violation of fire safety requirements in forests, resulting in a forest fire or its spread over a certain area, as well as forest destruction or damage as a result of arson or negligent handling of fire, will result in a fine of GEL 300 to 500. In the case of a forest fire caused by negligence, the law provides for imprisonment for four to eight years.
